Ten Guests, a Private Chef, a New Island Every Day, for the Same Price per Person as a Top Resort Stay, Says Bahamas Motor Yachts

Oct 20, 2026

Divide a crewed Bahamas catamaran's published weekly rate by the guests on board and the result lands where a top resort's winter rates sit, per person. The difference is what the money buys. Bahamas Motor Yachts shows the math on real boats.

United States, October 20, 2026 -- The number that surprises groups pricing a Bahamas trip is not the yacht's weekly rate, it is that rate divided by the people on board, reports Bahamas Motor Yachts, operated by DMA Yachting. Per person, a week on a crewed catamaran lands at the level a top Nassau resort already charges for a room, and on the boat the private chef and every meal are part of the price.

The math uses published rates, not estimates. ATLANTIA, a 64 foot power catamaran based in Nassau, takes ten guests at a winter rate of 46,000 dollars with all meals and the standard bar included: 4,600 dollars per person for the week, fed. The top resorts on Nassau and Paradise Island publish winter rates of roughly 1,300 to 1,900 dollars a night for a room for two, which puts a resort week at about 4,600 to 6,800 dollars per person before anyone has ordered dinner. The yacht and the resort sit in the same band. What changes is what the money buys.

On board, the group has the whole boat. The chef cooks to a preference sheet filled in before the trip, the paddleboards and snorkel gear are already aboard, and the view moves: Exuma sandbars one day, the swimming pigs at Big Major Cay the next. Taxes apply on both sides of the comparison, 14 percent on a Bahamas charter and the resorts' own taxes and fees on a hotel bill, and the brokerage lays its side out plainly in what you actually pay in tax and fees on a Bahamas yacht charter.

"A resort locks you to one beach. It is paradise, but the moment you want to see more of the Bahamas, you are arranging transfers and boat trips, and that adds up very quickly," said Marcelle Hailwax, Yacht Charter Broker at DMA Yachting. "On a yacht, moving is the experience. You wake up somewhere new every day, and the pigs, the sandbars, and the snorkeling all happen inside the one trip you have already paid for. A resort cannot compete with that. It is a different thing entirely."

The example is not a one off. SERENITY VII, a 63 foot power catamaran that runs the Exumas out of Nassau, takes eight guests at a published winter rate of 52,500 dollars with full board: about 6,600 dollars per person. Across the top power catamarans for charter in the Bahamas, the per person math repeats at every size, from eight guest family boats to new flagships. The shift the numbers ride is broader than boats: luxury spending keeps moving from things to experiences, as CNBC reported this summer.

"When a group runs this math with us for the first time, the decision usually makes itself," said Chris de Kock, Yacht Charter Broker at DMA Yachting. "People assume the yacht is a different league. Then they divide the rate by ten and see it next to what they already pay for good rooms. For the same money per person, the group gets the boat, the crew, and the chef to themselves. That is a calculation we gladly run with clients, on real boats and real dates."

The comparison works in every season, and the calendar rewards groups that plan: winter weeks are the classic window, and March is the month most families miss, with settled weather and school breaks lining up. The advice from Bahamas Motor Yachts is to gather the group, pick the week, and run the division on a real boat. The rate looks different split ten ways.

Unbeaten Cool Smashers keep Thunderbelles winless

MANILA, Philippines — The defending champion Creamline notched its third straight victory after defeating the winless ZUS Coffee, 25-19, 16-25, 26-24, 25-17, in the 2026-27 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference–Siklab Series on Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. Creamline improved to 3-0 win-loss record, tied with Nxled at the top of the standings, while ZUS Coffee dropped to 0-3 and joined Galeries Tower Highrisers at the bottom of the team standings. Bernadeth Pons led the Cool Smashers with a double-double performance of 16 points and 14 excellent receptions. Decorated playmaker Jia De Guzman orchestrated the offense with 17 excellent sets.  Middle blocker Pangs Panaga scored 15 points and Tots Carlos added 10 points for the Cool Smashers. Under the Siklab Series’ “all-to-play” rule, which requires every player listed on the statistical sheet to see at least one minute of action, head coach Sherwin Meneses admitted he is still searching for the team’s ideal combination. “Actually, we don’t know how to do it yet, since this is the first time in the Philippines that we’re following an ‘all-to-play’ format,” Meneses said, referring to the second frame where Creamline lost.  “It’s about the players, and we gave our trust to them. As a coach, this is my first time experiencing it too. We haven’t mastered the format yet, but we’re still maneuvering our players. Our advantage is that we have a lot of players; we’re still learning which ones work best together.” Creamline’s veterans also contributed as Jema Galanza added eight points for Creamline and tallied 10 excellent digs in the match, while Michele Gumabao and Bea De Leon both scored six points each. The Thunderbelles, who are still looking for their first win in the tournament, relied on Zam Nolasco's 16-point effort even as Alyanna Ong added 12 points. Creamline will next face Capital 1, while ZUS aims to finally crack through the win column when it faces PLDT on Oct. 29 at the Santiago Sports Arena in Santiago City.
