Noble Dental Specialists Takapuna's new treatments are offered for patients who are leery of surgical procedures. They have been developed to remove plaque and bacteria beneath the gum line and may employ cutting-edge technology called periodontal disease endoscopy. This procedure uses a miniature camera to get a detailed look at patients’ gums and ensure they are free from disease.

According to the National Library of Medicine, recent research indicates that deep cleaning reduces gum bleeding and can help prevent tooth loss. However, if gum disease is left untreated, it can eventually affect the patient’s tooth sockets and the ligament between the teeth and the tooth sockets, resulting in loose teeth that may need to be extracted.

Noble can treat gum disease with a minimal-discomfort method called perioscopy. The method uses a miniature camera attached to a small probe which is placed below the gum line. Perioscopy ensures a thorough cleaning, reduces bacteria, and helps prevent further damage.

For those who have lost gum tissue, Noble’s gum grafting periodontics expert can add back tissue, restoring support to the patient's teeth and enhancing their smile. Those who have lost teeth to gum disease might want to consider dental implants, the team says.

Having performed over 10,000 dental implants to date, Noble are confident in their ability to restore any smile.

'I’m very happy with the results of my perioscopy treatment’, said one satisfied patient. ‘It was a great investment, especially considering how much more I would’ve had to pay for surgery. The icing on the cake was that my 8-year-old doesn’t complain about Dad’s bad breath anymore!'

Asian Football Confederation postpones the 2027 Asian Cup because of conflict in the Middle East

SEOUL — The 2027 Asian Cup soccer tournament has been delayed almost a year in the wake of recent deadly attacks on Saudi Arabia, becoming the biggest sports event to be postponed amid the conflict in the Middle East. The Asian Football Confederation issued a statement Tuesday saying that after extensive consultations with Saudi organizers it had decided to push the start of its marquee continental championship back from Jan. 7 to Dec. 23. Local organizers agreed to reschedule in “circumstances arising from developments in the region, including substantial logistical complexities and travel disruptions,” the AFC said. “Exceptional circumstances have been created for the organization and delivery of the competition as originally scheduled, making the postponement necessary in the interest of all participating teams, officials, spectators and other stakeholders.” The new dates — Dec. 23, 2027 to Jan. 21, 2028 — will be submitted to FIFA for approval. The monthlong tournament was scheduled to feature 24 teams playing matches in eight venues across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar. Iran qualified and has been grouped with Syria, China and Kyrgyzstan for the league stage. The Saudis, Australia, South Korea and Japan were top seeds in other groups. The AFC's announcement ended months of speculation about a postponement which, until recently, had been rejected by local organizers. Muhammed Q. Alghamdi, a spokesman for the organizing committee, last month told members at an AFC meeting in Tokyo that “daily life is ongoing in Saudi Arabia.” Before that meeting, AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa had indicated potential for the Asian Cup to be postponed by a year if necessary and said a final decision could be delayed until late November. Other sports disruptions The Saudi Formula 1 Grand Prix was canceled this season, and the Bahrain race was relocated to Malaysia because of safety concerns related to the Iran war. Races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi are still on the calendar, and F1 has kept Saudi Arabia on the 2027 schedule with a grand prix planned there in March. The WTA Finals, the season-ending event in women’s tennis, was moved from Saudi Arabia to Indian Wells, California. Asia's marquee continental club soccer tournament — the AFC Champions League Elite — has already been disrupted. A game between Cristiano Ronaldo ’s Al-Nassr and Uzbekistan’s Neftchi Fergana was delayed on Oct. 12 after Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued a security alert. An Al-Nassr’s home game last week was postponed when against Al-Wasl of the United Arab Emirates didn't travel to Riyadh. Impact on Asian Cup teams Tuesday’s postponement means national federations across Asia face decisions about coaching staff with the originally scheduled Asian Cup marking the end of a four-year cycle before attention turns toward qualification for the 2030 World Cup. Australia coach Tony Popovic, who guided the Socceroos to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup, turned down a four-year contract extension in September in favor of a shorter deal through the Asian Cup. “It was my choice to go until the Asian Cup,” Popovic said at the time, saying a decision on his longer-term future would then be made with the Australian federation. “I know the legacy that I will leave behind,” he said. “And if it’s someone else that takes it forward, that’s fine. If it’s me, great, we agree to do this together.” South Korea is also in a difficult position. After a disappointing World Cup, the Korea Football Association appointed Robert Moreno as interim coach in September. The former Spain coach was given a contract through the end of November, with the possibility of a two or three-month extension to cover the Asian Cup. A strong tournament was expected to lead to a permanent appointment but now the KFA will have to make a decision without seeing how the team performs in the continental championship which it hasn't won since 1960. After the World Cup, Japan gave coach Hajime Moriyasu an extension through the Asian Cup, with under-21 coach Go Oiwa then due to take over. “Mr. Moriyasu has already shown that he can win in Asia, and we hope he can do so again by winning the Asian Cup,” Japan Football Association President Tsuneyasu Miyamoto said when the appointment was announced. “We worked backward from the goal of winning the Asian Cup. As for Mr. Oiwa, as the U-21 manager, we wanted him to focus on winning the Asian Games and to remain fully committed to the U-21 team until the end of the year.” In Iraq, coach Graham Arnold signed an extension after the World Cup that was also designed to run through the Asian Cup.

NCAA: Arellano clinches QF berth after edging San Sebastian

MANILA, Philippines — Arellano University secured a quarterfinals spot and improved its chances to earn a twice-to-beat incentive after escaping the first-win-seeking San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 69-61, in the second round of the NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City. Arellano improved to a 6-6 win-loss record to take the second seed in Group B, ahead of Emilio Aguinaldo College (5-6) and Perpetual Help (3-8), while San Sebastián remained winless with a 0-12 card. T-mc Ongotan led the scoring for Arellano with 22 points, five rebounds, two steals, and four blocks. Renzo Abiera backed up Ongotan with 19 points, while King Vinoya made 11 points and eight rebounds for the team’s victory. San Sebastian held a slim lead throughout the first three frames, 51-50, before the Chiefs took full control at the quarter that mattered the most, scoring 19 points in the fourth canto alone, while the Golden Stags only made 10. The Golden Stags are still looking for their first win as the 19-point effort of Kent Baani was not enough. Youth Olympics: Coleman skips 100m breaststroke, prioritizes health amid village heat

DAKAR, Senegal — Riannah Chantelle Coleman experienced difficulty in breathing and had to withdraw from the women’s100 meters breaststroke heats on Tuesday—the second of her three events in the 4th Youth Olympic Games (YOG). “It was decided that Riannah would be better off resting for at least two days rather than take the risk in the 100,” said Team Philippines swimming coach Ramil Ilustre. “She’ll have two days to recover for her last event.” Coleman hyperventilated after the 200m breaststroke heats on Monday and had to be attended to by the YOG Medical Team and was eventually given the green light for the final on the same day, finishing seventh among eight swimmers at the Dakar Olympic Pool. “It’s the heat,” said Coleman, whose last event will be the 50 meters breaststroke on Friday. Three other swimmers were treated for hyperventilation on Monday. The is no air-conditioning in all the rooms at the Youth Olympic Village (YOV) and athletes have been assigned one electric fan each to battle the heat and humidity. “Riannah’s really bothered by the heat, in fact she’s requested to have four electric fans to be directed on her bed,” said Chef de Mission Rocky Samson. “It’s the same condition for everyone in the village, all countries.” Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino agreed with Coleman’s withdrawal from the 100 breaststroke, saying her health and safety are a priority. “We cannot risk Riannah’s health and safety, she’s young and she has a whole swimming career ahead of her,” said Tolentino of the 17-year-old Coleman. A room at the YOV has four beds each and male and female toilets are common—one for athletes and another for coaches or officials. Jamesryan Mishael Ajido was focused in training on Tuesday for his two events on Wednesday—the 50 meters freestyle and 50 meters butterfly which are separated only by three other heats. Gymnasts Tchelzy Maayo and Hillarion Palles III already checked in at the village on Monday along with their coaches Reyland Capellan and Japanese Kazutaka Hakamada. Capellan, a former national gymnast who retired after the SEA Games at home in 2019, said training started in earnest for Maayo and Palles on Tuesday. “It was a long flight and our athletes need to be ready for the competition while shedding off jetlag,” Capellan said. The gymnasts’ flight took longer that the 30 hours for the first batch of athletes—they had a 19-hour layover in Istanbul, almost a day long, but still pales in comparison with the 40-hour record route Team Australia took to get to the Senegalese capital. The gymnastics competitions start Saturday at the Dakar Exhibition Center in Diamniado. With only two athletes, Team Philippines—supported by the Philippine Sports Commission—isn’t eligible for the team event and will only vie in the men and individual all-around, according to Capellan.
