SRM Ramapuram Celebrates Indo-Global Summer Internship 2021 Success Organised by MIT Square London

London, United Kingdom Jul 2, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - MIT Square, London organised Indo-Global Summer Internship 2021 for the undergraduate students of Computer Science and Engineering Department, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram Campus. Dr. Mithileysh Sathiyanarayanan, Founder and CEO of MIT Square Group initiated the global internships to provide a tech platform and make students future-ready.

The dedication and commitment of the students during the internship led to several awards, publications, and patents all over the world. To celebrate the success of the internship program, the department organised the success meet. The credentials achieved through the internship program, pursued by the students at various reputed foreign universities with the outcomes were brought to light during the success meet.

The event began with a warm welcome extended by Dr. K. Raja, HoD, Computer Science and Engineering. Followed by Dr. V. Subbiah Bharathi, Director-SRM Group of Institutions, Dr. M. Murali Krishna, Dean (E&T), and Ms. Kavitha Duraipandian (Ast. Professor), Ms. Bhuvaneshwari Loganathan, Co-founder of MIT Square, London, and Mr. R. Balasubramanian, Founder Mangaladeepam.

The third-year students who completed the internship in the foreign universities were Raj Sanjay Kulkarni and S Vinod (Brazil); Gautam Gopan, Mohammed Shafi, and S Mohammed Shalik Ershad (Turkey); Gaurav Singh, and Shubham Kumar (Malaysia); Madhumitha Mohan, Mudit Singh, and Ranit Sen (Poland); Gaurav Goswami, and Sudhanshu Patel (USA).

The fourth-year students who completed the internship in the foreign universities were Manoj N, Akhil S Krishnan, and Ramanathan N (Portugal); Deboleena Bhattacharyya, P Aaranan, and Khavin Shankar G (Saudi Arabia); Mrudhula Raya, Dhaarini. S, and Vishnu.M (Nigeria); S P Akhilaa, S P Aanandhi, and Sampat Kumar U (Australia); C. Deepanjali and P. Bhuvanashree (London).

A total of 12 students from III Year and 14 students from IV Year were awarded certificates for successfully completing their internship at the reputed foreign universities. The 2022 edition will be starting in the month of July.

SYDNEY, Australia — A river home to crocodiles was approved Thursday as the 2032 Brisbane Olympics rowing and canoeing venue by the sport's governing bodies after a "thorough and robust assessment". The Fitzroy River in Rockhampton, around 600 kilometres (372 miles) north of Queensland state capital Brisbane, which will be the Olympics hub, is a controversial choice. While a saltwater crocodile habitat, the main concerns were around technical specifications and the venue's fairness. The river is prone to flooding and has strong currents that can create uneven competition conditions, while a lack of accommodation options for rowers and spectators was also an issue. Thousands of people signed a petition to have the events moved to a purpose‑built facility nearer to Brisbane. But an independent assessment declared it fit for purpose and it was endorsed by governing bodies World Rowing and Paddle Worldwide (formerly International Canoe Federation), along with Olympic organisers. World Rowing President Jean-Christophe Rolland said ensuring fair and equal conditions for athletes was the driver in requesting a "thorough and robust" assessment, which looked at river flows, water levels, and wind conditions among other issues. "Based on the extensive analysis undertaken, we now know that the Fitzroy River is capable of providing fair competition conditions during the period of the Games, consistent with the requirements of Olympic and Paralympic Rowing," he said in a statement. Paddle Worldwide President Thomas Konietzko was equally enthusiastic. "The quality and depth of the technical work undertaken has significantly improved our understanding of the field of play and provides confidence to us and our athletes that the course can deliver fair competition for Canoe Sprint athletes," he said. The threat from crocodiles was not addressed in the assessment but officials have previously said there will be "processes in place" for reporting sightings. Brisbane 2032 President Andrew Liveris last year played down the issue. "There are sharks in the ocean and we're still surfing ... it's a can do, not a can't do, please change the mindset here," he said when asked about the issue. Sightings in the Fitzroy are only occasional, with the apex predators more prevalent further north. "I thank both Jean-Christophe, Thomas and their teams for their expertise and collaboration as preparations continue at pace ahead of our Games in just under six years' time," Liveris said on Thursday. "The endorsement provides additional certainty as we move into the next phase of venue planning and Games delivery, ensuring all future design and operational work continues to focus solely on Rockhampton."

NAGOYA, Japan — Accommodation for Asian Games athletes in Japan is "functional" and efforts are being made to deal with numerous complaints from disgruntled teams, a chief organiser told AFP. More than 17,000 competitors and officials are expected at the continent's biggest sporting spectacular, which opens on Saturday in Nagoya. In a bid to cut costs, organisers are housing athletes and officials in temporary accommodation ranging from a cruise liner and wooden containers to hotel rooms. The plan has run into immediate problems, with South Korean officials branding the container huts the "worst ever" and saying the beds are too short. An official from another team told AFP that he entered the facility, took one look at the arrangement and booked a hotel room instead. Several countries have also complained about a shortage of accommodation. Speaking ahead of the opening ceremony, organising committee president Hideaki Omura said efforts are being made to ensure athletes are comfortable. "If there are different opinions then we will respond to them appropriately," said Omura, who also serves as governor of Aichi prefecture. "At this point, while we are responding to individual opinions, we have been improving everything as issues arise and we will continue to respond that way." Byeon Jun-hyeong, a player with South Korea's men's basketball team, posted a video on social media showing a leaking sink and soaked floor in his hut accommodation. He posted the caption, "Please help us". Hundreds of athletes were briefly evacuated from their accommodation last week as record rainfall lashed Nagoya. About 2,000 people are supposed to stay in the huts. Cruise control  Omura said plans for the huts, which were built this year, had been given a favourable assessment by a committee of former athletes, including Olympians. "We explained everything to them and had them take a look around, and they said it looked functional and good," he said. About 4,000 athletes and officials will also stay on the Italian cruise ship Costa Serena, which arrived in Nagoya on Tuesday. Cruise ships have been used previously as accommodation at international sports events but never on this scale. The Asian Games are taking place at a time when typhoons are common in Japan, and Nagoya has experienced heavy rainfall in recent weeks. Omura said the priority was to keep athletes and officials on board safe. "We believe we can provide accommodation that guarantees athletes' safety and allows them to deliver their best performance," he said. Slow sales Athletes from 45 countries and territories will compete in more than 40 sports across over two weeks. Omura said ticket sales were going "fairly well", especially for the marquee events. But he admitted that lesser-known sports had yet to capture the Japanese public's imagination. That includes cricket, which is practically unknown in Japan. "India have a superstar cricket squad coming and Indian residents in Japan are saying, 'I can't believe we get to watch matches like this', but ticket sales haven't been very strong," said Omura. "A lot of people in Japan have never seen cricket, so I really hope they take this chance and go and watch." Events at the Games including basketball and football have been under way since last week. Omura said he was in attendance as the first action began when Qatar took on Iran in men's basketball. After watching a physical contest, Omura said he hoped the Games would help Asia "reaffirm its bonds of friendship through sport". "Iran and Qatar are in a situation where missiles are flying back and forth but they can still play basketball together," he said. "Without the Asian Games you couldn't have a game like that."

ALEXANDRA “Alex” Eala is poised to secure the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye at the WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open slated from Sept. 21 to 27 at the OCBC Arena, The Kallang. Initially seeded No. 6, world No. 18 Eala moved three places up after No. 3 Jessica Pegula, No. 13 Diana Shnaider and No. 15 Sorana Cirstea pulled out of the tournament. The Asian Games tennis play will run from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3, running smack into WTA 1000 China Open’s Sept. 30 to Oct. 11 schedule. Eala will skip the China Open in a bid to win the Asiad gold medal, which also merits a direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The 21-year-old will suffer a zero-point penalty, a $10,000 (P626,000) fine and potentially lose year-end bonuses if she skips China Open without WTA exemption. The Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) requested the WTA to give Eala an exemption so she could avoid the penalties for skipping a 1000-tier tournament like the China Open. Top players like Eala are contractually obliged to compete in Grand Slams and 1000-tier tournaments. As of writing, there’s no word yet whether the WTA approved or denied Philta’s request albeit it already denied the same request from Indonesia’s Tjen. Tjen thus will play at the China Open and skip the Asian Games, instead. As for Eala, she will skip China and play at the Asian Games with or without the WTA exemption.

The amiable PBA Commissioner noted how big of a sacrifice the team has made in the national team’s quest to defend the Philippines’ Asian Games basketball championship. “The players made a big sacrifice. I salute them for all that they have done for the country,” Marcial told The Manila Times in Filipino. “People don’t see what the players have done behind the scenes.” Filipino basketball-crazy fans expressed their frustration on social media following the Philippines’ 105-61 shellacking at the hands of a vengeful China side at the close of the group stage on Monday at the Aichi International Arena. The 44-point beating sent the Philippines out of quarterfinal contention in the process as Gilas ended the group stage with a 1-2 record. The Filipinos opened the tournament with an 85-89 loss to Bahrain, recovered by scoring a 109-78 rout of Kazakhstan before the 44-point defeat at the hands of the Chinese. Despite the embarrassing ending and the national team’s failure to retain the Asian Games basketball gold, Marcial said the PBA remains steadfast in its support to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). “We’ve made all the adjustments already, but we, in the PBA, will continue to send all the support, all the help to SBP. If they need ball boys, we will send them. If they need players, or coaches, we will send them to support SBP also. Whatever help they need, we will help,” shared Marcial. Marcial was on hand to support Gilas, along with some members of the PBA board of governors in Nagoya.

ALAS Pilipinas fell to China, 18-25, 22-25, 8-25, in the Asian Games women’s volleyball opener at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Japan on Wednesday. The Filipino volleybelles managed to be competitive against the defending champs, especially in the second frame, but collapsed in the third as the Chinese dominated to secure the Pool B win. Alas fell into a 4-19 hole and trailed by as many as 17 points, 7-24, in the third set. China finished the match in one hour and eight minutes. Angel Canino fired 14 points to lead Alas as Eya Laure aided her with 10. Alyssa Solomon chipped in nine points for the Taka Minowa-coached team. Thea Gagate and Dell Palomata added three and two points, respectively. The Filipinos put up the most fight in the second set, where they came back from a 16-20 deficit and tie the count at 20 following a Gagate block on Tang Xin. Staying composed, the Chinese responded with a 4-0 run to eventually take the set. China carried the momentum in the third frame as it shut down the Philippines, which is now in a must-win situation against Kazakhstan on Thursday. His impact on our organization, our city and our country is undeniable, and he embodies the competitiveness and championship mindset that we value,” said Raptors general manager Bobby Webster in a statement. “We believe his leadership, experience and talent will help us as we continue building toward our next championship.” Leonard was acquired in exchange for forward Brandon Ingram, guard-forward Gradey Dick, two future first-round draft picks, one future first-round pick swap and two future second-round picks. “We also want to thank Brandon and Gradey, and appreciate their work ethic, character and basketball excellence they brought to our team every day,” said the Raptors. During his previous Raptors stint, Leonard helped Toronto win its first and only NBA championship. Leonard subsequently moved to the Clippers, where he became embroiled in controversy. Earlier this month, the Clippers were found to have aided Leonard in evading salary cap rules in deals with team corporate sponsors. The Clippers were stripped of five first-round draft picks and fined $30 million by the NBA. Leonard was fined $700,000. The Clippers had agreed to trade Leonard to Toronto in July, but the Raptors said they would await the result of the investigation before finalizing the deal. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said on Sunday he would comply with the NBA’s punishment even though he disagreed with aspects of the league’s probe, paving the way for the trade to be completed.
