Maria Luchsinger, author and teacher from Washington State, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first children’s book written to explain chiropractic care, Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor. It continues to get on the best seller list for Chiropractic books at Amazon.

Chiropractors use it for patient education. Parents love the explanation and children love the bright rainbow colors of Sammy the Centipede and how he talks to them like he is their friend. The book uses facts in the story to explain how chiropractic care works to keep people healthy and is found at https://www.sammythecentipede.com along with other Sammy books.

She wrote it because one of her daughters had breathing problems and was helped by chiropractic care. She could not find a book for children explaining about chiropractic care so she decided to write one. Maria Luchsinger waited to first publish the book back in 2013, because…”years prior in the 90’s there were not the publishing options available today.”

Dr. Claudia Anrig, a well-known pediatric chiropractor, reviewed the book back then and still recommends it to her students today. She has recommended the book in Dynamic Chiropractic Magazine.

Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor has also been sold at Palmer College of Chiropractic, and been featured in ChiroEco.com and Massage Magazine. The Spanish version is Samuelito el Ciempies va al Quiropractico.

“I loved this beautiful book. It’s informative, vibrant, cheerful. The writing is upbeat and great for all my little patients. I’m a family practice doctor that sees children. I love having teaching materials that help my patients feel comfortable. This is just the ticket.” - Dr. Eric Fassler

“Her clear and playful imagery communicates complex concepts in a way that any child will “get” at a very deep level. And she makes it sooooo much fun!” -Dr. Dennis Dilday

“I just wanted to let you know that I read Sammy to my four-year old son that night after meeting you at the conference. And he LOVED it! Thank you for contributing to chiropractic.” -Dr. David J. Mayes

In addition, there is a series of Sammy the Centipede books on health topics including nutrition, fitness, and dental care. Sammy books have had global impact with chiropractors in Australia to a preschool in Egypt.

MANILA, Philippines — Five-peat-seeking National University swept Arellano University, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14, for a third straight win in the 2026 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Unity Cup on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.  The Lady Bulldogs survived a tough challenge early in the second set before cruising the rest of the way to remain unbeaten in Pool A of the league’s centerpiece competition, backed by Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Potato Corner and R&B Milk Tea. Chams Maaya finished with 10 points on six spikes, two aces and two kill blocks to lead NU, which has yet to drop a set. “Nagpo-focus kami sa sarili namin kung paano pa namin mai-improve ang skills namin kasi every game, every set, every point ay kailangang mag-improve kami,” Maaya said. Celine Marsh added eight points, Arah Panique had seven markers while Denesse Daylisan scored six for the Lady Bulldogs, who completed a sweep of their back-to-back assignments and inched closer to securing a playoffs seat.     NU found itself struggling at the start of the second frame and trailed the Lady Chiefs, 7-11, after a Samantha Maranan offspeed attack. The Lady Bulldogs answered with nine straight points capped by a Daylisan kill for a 16-11 lead to take control of the frame. Smelling blood, NU dictated the tempo of the third set and built an insurmountable 20-9 advantage on its way to closing an 85-minute victory. Arellano absorbed a second straight defeat for a 1-2 record in the tournament, supported by Smart, PusoP.com DICT, Executive Optical, Milo and Summit Natural Drinking Water.
