Jacob Frydman, a native New Yorker and real estate expert, was proud to join the National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) and support its Released Time program of Greater New York.Frydman is devoted to his Jewish heritage and continues his charitable efforts by dedicating a great part of his time and capital to various organizations and programs that help those from struggling communities.

The Released Time program helps Jewish youth in public schools by educating them about the history, customs, and prayers of Judaism. Since its creation in 1941, NCFJE’s initiative has inspired more than a quarter of a million Jewish boys and girls in New York City, Rockland County, Long Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New England, Ohio, Pennsylvania and California to discover the history of their heritage. The program has expanded and now services more than 125 sites in the New York City area. Throughout the year, each Wednesday afternoon during the last hour of school, dedicated instructors instill the joy of Judaism and create a warm atmosphere of religion and acceptance for over 900 students currently enrolled in the program. The classes are available at every public school in New York, free of charge. Rabbi Hanoch Hecht of The Rhinebeck Jewish Center was the one who introduced Frydman to this initiative and continues to praise Frydman for his sustained commitment and the work he is doing for the community.

Jacob Frydman understands the importance of reaching out to young people and believes it is imperative that children within the Released Time program, who come from households that experience a range of economic and social hardships, are nurtured just as attentively as any other. Not a stranger to making a difference in the lives of the new generation, in 2013 Jacob founded a scholarship fund, helping countless American students gain access to higher education and inspiring them to reach their full potential. The program awarded $100,000, over three years, to students who best answered the question, “How Do I Invest in My Future?”

Over his 30-year career, Jacob Frydman made a positive and lasting impression with the real estate investment industry. Through his vast experience in structuring, financing, and executing highly complex real estate transactions, he has acquired over five million square feet of American property and has participated in investments valued at over $2 billion. He often speaks at Columbia University and in the Master’s Lecturer series at New York Law School, discussing business, law, and ethical elements of real estate management to aspiring students. Frydman is an avid philanthropist, who cares greatly for his Jewish community, and supports of many other charitable committees, including The Chabad of Dutchess County and The Brem Foundation, which focuses on the eradication of breast cancer among women and men in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Savi Davison back in fiery form

MANILA, Philippines — Savi Davison is aware that she carries much of the scoring load for the PLDT High Speed Hitters. The Filipino-Canadian gunner finished as the No.1 Best Scorer in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference, where she mounted a total of 185 points and a conference-high of 37 points against Creamline. With an impressive performance in the previous tournament, Davison was struggling for a gunner who usually scores 20 points or more after chipping in low numbers in her first two games in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino. Davison only mounted 10 points in a loss over Nxled, followed by a career-low of five points in a defeat over Akari that left PLDT to suffer back-to-back beatings in its first two games. But Davison had enough with losing and finally led her team to victory against the fortified Capital 1 Solar Spikers. The 5-foot-8 spiker mounted 28 points on 23 attacks, four blocks, and an ace, and added 10 excellent digs and 18 excellent receptions in a four-set win against Capital 1. “I think we were... We weren't surprised by the 0-2 start, but I think we had to realize that everybody was getting better and we had to follow the pace,” Davison told the media. “We came from an Invitational where the Alas pros weren't here, and they make a really big difference when they're back on certain teams,” she added, noting the beefed-up roster of the PVL teams. Davison, who also had the help of Kianna Dy, Alleiah Malaluan, and Alas Pilipinas blocker Dell Palomata, also bared that she fully knew the load of responsibility of being a go-to scorer. “I honestly... It's hard. I'm not gonna lie, but I feel like Kath (Arado) also recognizes the position that I'm in. Like we... She's a really big part of our defense, and I feel like I carry the offensive side, but we do have a lot of pressure on us internally and externally.” “And we like to say that pressure is a privilege. Pressure is a privilege, and pressure makes diamonds. But at the same time, you just gotta calm yourself down, and everyone has a bad day, but let's just kind of, you know, mark more good days and bad days, hopefully.” PLDT (1-2) looks to pick up back-to-back wins when it faces Capital 1 (2-2) on Oct. 29, at the Santiago City Arena.

Avaricio rides South Pacific high into Apo title defense

Avaricio rides South Pacific high into Apo title defense

MANILA, Philippines – Chanelle Avaricio brings a potent mix of winning momentum, growing confidence and proven course mastery into the ICTSI Apo Golf Classic, seeking back-to-back victories and a fourth title of the season as the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour wraps up its 2026 campaign Tuesday (Oct. 27) in Davao City. Fresh from a one-shot victory over Tiffany Lee at South Pacific last week, Avaricio heads to the quaint Apo layout with another compelling edge: a return to the course where she ruled in dominant fashion last year, turning a tight opening-round battle into a runaway triumph with a sterling second-round 68 that propelled her to an seven-shot victory. The reigning champion thus looms as the player to beat in the P1.25-million season-ending championship, armed with the confidence of a recent winner, familiarity with the demands of the course and an increasingly well-rounded game sharpened by overseas competitions, including the China Tour. Another victory would not only give Avaricio a fitting finish to her campaign but also match her four-title haul in the 2022 season. She has already stamped her class this year with victories at the demanding Pinewoods leg and Summit Point before surviving a dramatic, shifting battle of fortunes at South Pacific. Yet for Avaricio, the significance of each triumph goes beyond numbers or comparisons. “Each win means a lot to me,” said Avaricio after edging Lee in a tense finish. “It’s same as my other wins. Pero lahat naman, I'm really grateful and happy. So, it's the same as all my wins. So, grateful lang talaga.” That humility, however, will not diminish the target on her back at Apo. With her recent form and impressive title-defense credentials, Avaricio will have to contend with 23 challengers, including three amateurs, eager to derail her bid for another LPGT crown and close the season with a statement of their own. Among the leading threats is Yvon Bisera, who seeks redemption and a third title of the season, while Lee will be out to sustain her late-season charge after ending a two-year title drought at Pueblo de Oro. Daniella Uy, Harmie Constantino and Princess Superal also have the firepower to mount serious challenges if they find their rhythm early. Local knowledge could prove crucial on Apo's tight, tricky layout, putting Sarah Ababa, Mafy Singson and Chihiro Ikeda in the mix. Their familiarity with Davao's oldest golf course, where they have trained and developed their games, could provide a valuable advantage in a field expected to push Avaricio from the opening round. Also tipped to contend are Rev Alcantara, who turned in a strong performance at South Pacific, Pamela Mariano, Gretchen Villacencio, Marvi Monsalve, Velinda Castil and Monica Mondario, along with returning Korean campaigner Seoyun Kim, and Eunhua Nam. For Avaricio, the equation is compelling: arrive as the latest winner, return to a venue where she delivered a commanding performance a year ago, and chase a fourth victory in a season that has further underscored her growth as one of the tour's leading players. One more win would make that homecoming even sweeter – and give the LPGT season a finish worthy of a champion. TMT

Alex Eala teams up with Fil-Am Desirae Krawcyzk in Tokyo doubles

MANILA, Philippines — Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala teams up with Fil-American and 13-time doubles champ Desirae Krawczyk at the WTA 500 Tokyo Open doubles tournament. Eala and Krawczyk will face the Taiwanese-Japanese duo of Chan Hao-Ching and Miyu Kato in the first round on either Monday or Tuesday. Ranked No. 32 in doubles, the 32-year-old Krawczyk entered the consciousness of Filipino tennis fans after an appearance on "The Players Box" podcast last March. In the podcast, Krawczyk said that her Filipino mom, Maria, is an Eala fan so devoted that she planned on watching Eala at the Dubai Tennis Championships last February, almost forgetting that her daughter Desirae would be playing on the same date. Eala played and lost against Coco Gauff in the quarterfinal, 0-6, 2-6, on February 19. Desirae and Lyudmyla Kichenok battled Aleksandra Krunić and Anna Danilina in doubles on the same date, losing their quarterfinal match, 1-6, 6-4, 6-10. "She's like 'I'm going to come watch her when she plays on Thursday [against Gauff]'," shared Desirae. "And I was like, 'Mom, I'm going to be playing on Thursday.' She's like, 'Oh, oh, yes, you too. Yes, yes. I'm going to watch you too!'" A few weeks later at Indian Wells in March, Desirae shared that her mother planned on cooking pancit and lumpia for Alex. "She’s like, ‘I’m gonna make her pancit,’ which is a famous noodle dish in the Philippines, and then lumpia, which is like these egg rolls," said Desirae in the podcast. "I told Alex about it, and she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I would love that.’ And if I tell my mom that, my mom will probably make like three big bowls of noodles."
