Houston SMB Shadow AI Security & Governance: Managed IT Service Announced

Oct 15, 2026

Elevated Technologies has announced shadow AI monitoring and AI use policy services to help Houston-area small and midsized businesses identify and govern unapproved AI tools running inside their networks.

Houston, United States, October 15, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- Elevated Technologies, a managed IT services provider serving Houston-area small and midsized businesses, has announced digital infrastructure monitoring and managed IT support designed to help companies detect and govern shadow AI use. The offering gives business owners visibility into AI tools already running inside their companies, along with governance rules and security controls to manage them, so employees can keep using AI productively while decision-makers gain a clearer picture of where company and client data travels.

As the provider explains, shadow AI refers to employees using AI tools for work without sign-off from IT or security staff. This includes personal chatbot accounts, browser extensions that read whatever page is open, meeting transcription bots, and AI agents connected directly to company systems. Each of these can move data somewhere outside a company’s visibility, leading to potential breaches, as in the widely reported case of Samsung in April 2023, when employees inadvertently exposed proprietary source code by submitting it to a public AI tool.

Elevated Technologies notes that Houston small and midsized businesses often operate without dedicated security staff. This leaves them significantly exposed to data leakage, compliance violations, and an inability to audit where sensitive information has traveled once it leaves company control. IBM’s report found that breaches involving shadow AI averaged $5.39 million in costs, above the global breach average of $4.99 million, and that 68% of breached organizations lacked any governance policy capable of managing AI use or detecting shadow AI activity.

To address those gaps, Elevated Technologies helps Houston companies find hidden AI tools already in use across their networks, establish rules that fit how employees actually work, and secure connections between AI applications and business systems. Backed by proactive 24/7 monitoring and a five-minute response time, the work continues on an ongoing basis rather than ending after a single audit.

Their approach centers on building an inventory of AI tools already in use, then drafting a short, usable AI use policy that spells out what is approved and what data stays off-limits. Elevated Technologies also helps businesses offer employees approved AI alternatives they are more likely to adopt, control which tools can connect to email and shared systems, and train staff on safe use, while continuing to monitor for new tools as they emerge.

Yolanda Hopkins upsets World No. 3 Gabriela Bryan to reach WSL Championship Tour Philippines Pro quarterfinals

MANILA, Philippines —  World No. 14 Yolanda Hopkins pulled off a major reversal, knocking out World No. 3 Gabriela Bryan to advance to the quarterfinals of the inaugural World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour Philippines Pro at the iconic Cloud 9 reef break in Siargao on Saturday. Hopkins came through in Heat 2 of the women's competition, posting a combined score of 10.10 from waves worth 5.27 and 4.83 to eliminate the highly-ranked American and arrange a quarterfinal showdown with World No. 6 Caitlin Simmers in the event presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), with the support of Surigao del Norte Gov. Robert Lyndon Barbers, General Luna Mayor Johnson Sajulga and Vice Mayor Romina Sajulga. Bryan, finished ninth with a total of 7.00, combining scores of 4.00 and 3.00 to collect 2,000 championship points. The competition unfolded under four- to six-foot waves, giving the world's best surfers challenging conditions to display their skills, while calm winds helped maintain a steady lineup. Also making her way into the quarterfinals was Simmers, who dominated fellow American and World No. 11 Caroline Marks in their opening-round encounter. Simmers posted an impressive 15.17 on a 9.00 and a 6.17. Marks could only managed 9.00 from waves scoring 5.50 and 3.50 and likewise settled for ninth place with 2,000 championship points. Beyond her impressive performance, Simmers expressed her admiration for Cloud 9, describing the famed Siargao break as one of her favorite surfing destinations because of the technical challenges and opportunities it offers.  “Honestly, I keep telling people it's one of my favorite waves on the planet because it's just really tight, and you kind of have to do some exciting things in the spaces you get. It's pretty hard to just do your stock-standard couple of turns on it,” said Simmers. The American explained that Cloud 9 demands creativity and precise timing, as its changing sections can force surfers to adjust their approach while looking for opportunities to execute difficult maneuvers. She also singled out the wave's end section as a promising spot for aerial moves, expressing hope that the world's top female surfers would take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their skills. “I think I'm just hoping all the girls do airs because these are the best surfers in the world, best women in the world. And I know every single one of them can do an air on that end section. It's just a matter of timing, really,” she said. Simmers believes the challenging but rewarding nature of Cloud 9 could produce spectacular performances as the competition progresses, particularly with the world's best women surfers battling for a place in the next round. The event is also supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and NEA/SIARELCO. Delos Santos sets new junior world records in Ningbo

MANILA, Philippines — Albert Ian Delos Santos finished out of the podium in the 2026 IWF World Weightlifting Championships, but delivered a promising performance by shattering two junior world records in the men’s 70-kilogram (kg) division in Ningbo, China. The 20-year-old Asian Junior champion came off a bronze finish in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and was not over in setting new records as he eclipsed his previous world junior record He lifted a total of 331kg, built on 144kg in the snatch and 187kg in the clean and jerk. to surpass his previous total lift of 324kg that he made in the Asian Games. He also eclipsed his own record in the clean and jerk of 183kg. To put the 331 kg total into perspective, it is almost equivalent to the weight of a standard grand piano, an average commercial soda vending machine, or about 11 golden retrievers. First Filipina Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz formerly lauded Delos Santos and knew that he was meant to reach greater heights “Ian is one of our future Olympian gold medalist in the Philippines, as you can see he’s a junior world record holder, then he won here at 20 years old, competing in Asian Games, and it’s his first time,” Diaz told the media during Delos Santos bronze finish in Asiad.   “He is one of a kind, and I can’t describe how brave he is,” she added. North Korea took the top two spots, with Pak Pyol winning gold with a world-record total of 355 kilograms, while Ri Won Ju took silver with 343 kg, and China’s He Baozhen rounded out the podium with bronze, lifting 339 kg. Although he fell short of a medal, Delos Santos delivered one of the competition’s standout performances, improving his own junior records against some of the world’s top lifters. Delos Santos is expected to move up to the 75-kilogram category for the IWF qualifying competition in Qatar in December as he continues his international campaign.
