Dog photo recognition for action shots

Glencadia Dog Boarding Camp partnering with InData Labs to bring AI pattern recognition to dogs, Spot Spotter®

New York City, New York Jun 14, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Exciting news on the ability to share dog photos and updates: Glencadia Dog Camp (country dog boarding for NYC dogs) is partnering with InData Labs to bring AI pattern recognition to dogs, Spot Spotter®. This technology will be embedded seamlessly into our new Glencadia Reservation System (GRS).

The new software, Spot Spotter, will be the first AI photo recognition that can identify dogs without a clear shot of the dog's face. By reviewing and sorting some 3000 dogs a year, this AI may become one of the best dog recognition software options available.

So, How Was Camp?

While children can come home from summer camp and tell you what happened, a dog can't. You can't call your dog. A big part of our service is keeping people and their dogs in contact when apart.

However, taking pictures of dogs and sending them to their owners has never been as simple for us as some might suppose. A kennel staff person can snap a photo and plan to open the Glencadia reservation system (GRS) later and look for contact info and send it later. Customers do not want to review photos with other people's dogs.

Also, our dogs are not posing, sitting nicely waiting for the photographer to get the perfect shot. Here at Glencadia, the dogs are free to roam and play over 20 acres. Often the best photos are of a dog in motion, swimming, jumping, carrying a stick, or some other activity. The face is likely to be turned away from the lens. No existing AI can deal with this issue.

Some owners give up looking for pictures of their dogs. Other new customers might review 300 photos, only to be disappointed and not spot their own dog. This long-standing problem here at Glencadia Dog Camp (dog boarding, New York City) is about to be solved.

Dog Photo Sharing, Fixed

Lots of photos. Lots of dogs. Seems like there should be a way to solve this problem. We think there are technical and logistical solutions to this problem and that we have found the answers.

The InData Labs/Glencadia Spot Spotter AI is breaking new ground. All existing AI systems need nose prints, or clear images of a dog's face. With Spot Spotter our goal is to recognize dogs by tails, ears, fur patterns, and other characteristics.

Spot Spotter will take months to learn how to find dogs from our database. As it learns how to distinguish ears from ears and tails from tails, customers might help by scrolling through galleries to ID their own dogs and add photos to their galleries. If the Spot Spotter AI agrees with the owner of the dog, then it works.

When a solution to an old problem shows up, it feels great. Now, we watch this solution get to work and make the problem go away!

This exciting collaboration may produce the world's first and best dog recognition AI that does not require a headshot. Check back in a few months and we can show you what our system can do!

Rockets' Kevin Durant, Suns owner Mat Ishbia spar on social media

PHOENIX — Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant and Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia had a spat on social media Saturday after Durant took issue with Ishbia's description of the 16-time All-Star's tenure with the Suns during a recent television interview. In an appearance on CNBC Sport, Ishbia said that he “threw money at the problem” when dealing for Durant in 2023 and that “bringing in super talented players like Kevin Durant doesn't necessarily lead to championships.” Durant took issue with that characterization. “#blamekd even though KD stayed on top of his game at 36 and got u back this ‘culture’ you love so much. Aye, Matthew acts like I got arrested for a DUI or sumn. Back to threads," Durant posted. Ishbia responded with his own message, saying “You obviously didn’t watch the clip. Didn’t blame you @Kdtrey5, but am happy with the culture we are building here in Phoenix. We got the right guys and right focus now and are excited for this season. Good luck this season in Houston.” Durant had one more response, writing “U should be giving Thanks every chance u get. You don’t have to pay me an absurd amount of money to play for another team.” Just days after Ishbia bought the Suns for $4 billion in 2023, the organization dealt for Durant in a blockbuster trade that the owner hoped would lead to a championship. While Durant played well personally, the team results were disappointing. Phoenix made it to the second round of the playoffs in 2023, got swept in the first round in 2024 and didn't even make the playoffs in 2025. Durant was traded to the Rockets during the ensuing offseason. Ishbia retooled the organization in the aftermath, hiring Brian Gregory as the general manager and Jordan Ott as the head coach. The Suns were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, but finished with a 45-37 record and made the first round of the playoffs with a core that included Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green. “It was not aligned with my vision,” Ishbia said of Durant's tenure. "We had a couple years and it did not succeed as we're well aware of at this point. After that year, I decided to trade Kevin Durant, bring in my GM, bring in a coach and get extremely involved personally with the type of guy and type of person we want in the organization. Not just on the court but off the court. “I'm not saying it's Kevin Durant or not Kevin Durant, but here's what I will say. It is Dillon Brooks. It is Jordan Goodwin. It is Collin Gillespie... of course, Devin Booker. We've defined what matters to us.”
