Boris Mizhen, property investor, has contributed to the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven and the Chabad of Shoreline. Mr. Mizhen has been a follower of these groups for many years, and financially contributed to the Jewish Foundation’s “PACE” (Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment) fund and to the Chabad of Shoreline’s Jacob Fund. These funds offer food to families who need it.

“I am happy to support the wonderful work of the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven and the Chabad of Shoreline,” said Boris Mizhen. “I feel very grateful for my good fortune in being able to help such a positive organization.”

The PACE fund, or Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment, is a fund at the Jewish Foundation that awards the UJA-Federation annual campaign gift. These donations from Boris Mizhen, among others, help to pay for Jewish education, camps, schools, and care for the elderly and others in need, both in the New Haven area and in Israel. Mizhen’s contribution to the PACE fund was provided through the Boris Mizhen Family Trust. The Jewish Foundation has long been a trusted and expert source for establishing charitable gifts and endowments. They serve as a partner and essential resource for synagogues, local Jewish agencies, professional advisors and donors.

The Jacob Fund is operated by the Chabad of Shoreline, in Guilford, CT and is a charity program, which provides food in a respectable and discreet manner for families undergoing a financial crisis, whether from loss of employment, illness, or other unforeseen events. The program generates food “gift cards” that may be used in select supermarkets throughout Guilford and the Greater New Haven area. Different amounts are allotted to families who may utilize the services for between two and four months, with certain exceptions made based on need. As a longtime resident of Guilford, Boris Mizhen has said he feels a responsibility to help his neighbors in the most respectable and grassroots way possible.

Boris Mizhen is a prominent real estate developer in the New York City-area with projects including both residential and commercial properties across the North-East United States. Born with a strong business instinct, Mizhen learnt at a young age how to use every opportunity to his advantage. He enjoys spending his extra time and energy by contributing to charities and organizations that offer help to those who need it most. By pursuing his passion in philanthropic causes, Boris Mizhen remains passionately involved with social activism across the world.

Sky is the limit: Carl Jammes Martin eyes world title after win over Picasso

MANILA, Philippines — Following his morale-boosting victory over David Picasso, the future is wide open for undefeated Filipino boxer Carl Jammes Martin. The 27-year-old fighter is eager to continue facing top-ranked contenders in the featherweight division or, should the right opportunity present itself, challenge for the WBO super-bantamweight crown, where he currently holds the No. 1 ranking. Martin outlined his team's potential next steps during Tuesday's Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Philippine Sports Commission media room, where he appeared alongside his father and trainer, Abel Martin. "Para sa akin gusto ko yung mas mataas pa kay Picasso. Yung nasa top 3 o top 4 ranking and gusto natin yung mas mabigat pa na pangalan, at world championship para sa susunod,” Martin stated. "Pero mas priority namin yung championship sa super-bantamweight division. But kung may offer naman na championship sa featherweight, doon muna ako mag-stay.” Martin was a guest at the session—presented by San Miguel Corporation, the PSC, the Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, and 24/7 sports app ArenaPlus—just a day after earning a hard-fought split decision win against Picasso in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That bout served as part of the undercard for the Canelo Alvarez-Christian Mbilli WBC super-middleweight title fight. With the victory over Picasso, who suffered a unanimous decision loss to Naoya Inoue last year, the Ifugao native improved his unblemished professional record to 29-0 with 21 knockouts. Sporting a small mark just beneath his right eye, Martin noted that he is entirely open to a rematch after Picasso requested a second meeting following their bout. "Sabi ko sige. May isang salita ako, may paninindigan ako at gagawin ko yung offer mo sa akin. Kasi ako nga inakyat ko siya sa division niya, so bakit di ko naman pagbibigyan yung hiling niya,” Martin said. However, according to the elder Martin, their immediate path forward rests in the hands of his son's management team, led by international matchmaker Sean Gibbons. "Nabanggit ni Sir Sean Gibbons na basta mag-prepare lang kami. So pahinga siguro kami ng one month," the trainer shared. "Unti-unti lang muna para pag dumating na yung schedule, makapag-simula na kami ng regular training.” TMT

A toast to a win? LeBron James takes a sip of wine after crashing into 76ers fan

PHILADELPHIA — At 41 years old and still playing at an elite level, some might say LeBron James is aging like a fine wine. Well, maybe having some wine during Monday's contest helped his game, too. After coming up empty on a fastbreak, James crashed into a Philadelphia 76ers fan behind the basket and took a a sip of the fan's wine during Philadelphia's 126-107 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. "I crashed into him, spilled some of his wine," James said after posting 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. "So I wanted to see if it was worth it on my arm and how good it was. It was alright." There were laughs all around at the end of the answer, a sign of how things have been going for James since he decided to join the 76ers in July. He and the 76ers are having a lot of fun right now. And why not? They won their fourth straight game on Monday to improve their Eastern Conference-leading record to 7-1. James started alongside the star-studded 76ers lineup with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown. All scored in double-figurers on Monday night, with Maxey leading the way with 26 points. It seemed like some, um, celebrating was in order — even if in-game. A toast to a good decision? To another win? To having fun? Maybe to all of it? "It's a long marathon, and if you don't find ways to have fun throughout — even though you're working, even though you're locked in — it can wear on you," James said.
