Yulo on hugging, kissing vault table: You have to be nice

MANILA, Philippines — Olympic and Asian Games champion Carlos Yulo said that gymnasts have to be “nice” when asked why he always hugs or kisses the table used during vault events. He is set to take part in the finals of the men’s floor exercise and vault events at the 2026 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands this weekend. “You know, you have to be nice. Maybe it’s my favorite—floor and vault—that’s why I kind of kiss it. It’s just being nice to the event,” Yulo said. The men’s floor exercise final will take place on Saturday and the vault on Sunday, both at 8 p.m., Philippine time.
