The Lyceum Pirates held a 76-74 advantage with under a minute remaining in the last quarter. Eyeing to end its series of losses, Ralph Gabat scored a layup and completed his and-one play to allow the Stags to enjoy a 77-76 advantage with under 5.1 seconds left on the clock. However, veteran Renz Villegas pulled a jumper with 1.1 seconds left to change the story and allow the Pirates to enjoy a 78-77 advantage. Villegas led the scoring with 17 points, along with two rebounds and four assists. “The play wasn’t originally for me, but thankfully, I made the shot. Of course, credit to the coaches too; we’re happy that it worked,” Villegas told the media. Mclaude Guadaña added 13 points, while Jonathan Dialeg added 10 markers for Lyceum’s victory. San Sebastián relied on Ralph Gabat’s 22-point output, but it was not enough to crack in the win column. Also, I am very lucky to have Cuenco, who can execute with confidence at the stretch of the game. It’s like he’s born for this moment. Of course, he also shared his experience with Clint Escamis, and now, as you can see, he can handle it,” head coach Victolero said. On Perpetual’s side, LA Casinillo mounted 17 points and six rebounds, while Mark Gojo Cruz added 10 markers.
